Lorraine was raised in her young life by her grandparents, Mary Melissa Shackelford and Reverend Leonard L. Shackelford. She retired in November, 1992 from G.E. after 26 years of employment, her main job was being a tester in the specialty transformer department.
Teaching Bible Club on her front porch for the neighborhood children was a very fond memory of hers. Lorraine was a longtime member of First Christian Union Church. She was also a member of the G.E. Elex Club beginning in 1984. She will forever be remembered as kind and loving. She taught how important it was to be kind to others and consider their feelings and not your own.
In her spare time, Lorraine was an avid reader, and could often be found curled up with a good book. She was also a movie buff, especially enjoying thrillers or complex mysteries. Lorraine was a longtime fan of Alfred Hitchcock. She was a music lover of all genres. Some of her favorite hymns were, I'll Fly Away, I'll Meet You in the Morning, This world is Not My Home, Precious Memories and For All Time.
Verses that were very near and dear to her that she wanted her children and grandchildren to be aware of were, Ecclesiastes 12:6 and Isaiah 26:3.
