A long and enjoyable journey ended peacefully on June 22, 2021 for Edward Earl Jordan. Ed was born in Huntington, IN on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1932. He grew up in Fort Wayne, IN, graduated from North Side High School and earned Bachelor and Graduate degrees from Purdue University. At Purdue, he was a member of Phi Delta Theta and was initiated with fellow pledge, Neal Armstrong. Ed was a lifetime supporter of Phi Delta Theta, Purdue University and was a member of the Purdue President’s Council. He enjoyed following Neal Armstrong’s career and attesting to Neal’s strong character. A plant physiologist, Ed served his country doing research at the Fort Detrick Biological Defense Laboratory. He retired from Monsanto’s Agriculture Division in 1985 after a rewarding career developing markets for several of Monsanto’s biggest agricultural products. He then established his own agricultural marketing company, Stoney Creek Resources. He and his wife, Diana, moved for his career 8 times and were early home renovators, buying “fixer-uppers” and selling the renovated homes with each move. Ed and Diana loved the outdoors so their last move brought them back to Fort Wayne where they and their son, Michael, renovated the former Woodland Waters Club into their home and were great stewards of the surrounding DNR Classified Forest. Ed and Diana were also early breeders of Chocolate Labrador Retrievers and for 25 years their Stoney Creek Kennels provided hundreds of families with loyal furry companions.
Ed is survived by his much-loved son and daughter-in-law, Michael E. and Nancy A. Jordan and he was “immensely proud” of his grand-daughter, Rebecca L. Jordan. He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Diana R. Jordan, and his parents George E. and Rose A. Jordan.
Funeral calling on Wednesday June 30 from 2-4 pm and 6-8pm at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Funeral Home with a private family funeral to follow. In true Ed fashion, memorials can be made to the charity of your choice – just think of a fond shared memory as you make your donation.
