

EDWIN L. MOORE, died peacefully Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010, at Markle Health & Rehabilitation Center. His room was filled with the sunshine of a beautiful first day of fall. His extended family had been at his side for several days following a stroke he suffered the preceding week. Born April 25, 1922, in New Haven, he was the son of William Earl Moore and Francis Bacon Moore. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and worked at Dana Corporation, Fort Wayne as a heat treat specialist for over 35 years. But the work he loved best was being owner/operator with his wife, Mary of Shady Haven Resort at Upper Long Lake, in Indiana. "Ed was a man always quick with a joke or limerick. He could be cantankerous and hard as nails at times, but he will be fondly remembered for his great heart and sorely missed by the people whose lives he touched over so many years." He is survived by his wife, Mary Yvonne (Smith) Moore; daughter, Kristine (David) Southard of Odon, Ind.; son, Kevin (Blaise) Moore of Fort Wayne; daughter, Kolleen (Bob)Turpin of Roanoke; son, Keith (Amy) Moore of Weston, Fla.; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Viola McKee, Velma Claussen and Janice (Andy) Ianucilli; and brothers, Russell (Joan) Moore, Jerry (Pat) Moore and Bill (Becky) Moore. Funeral mass is 10 a.m. Monday at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, 1515 Barthold St., Fort Wayne, with viewing from 9 to 10 a.m. Friends and family may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Wayne Street Chapel, 420 W. Wayne St., with a rosary at 7 p.m. His final resting place will be St. Joseph Cemetery, Roanoke.
