

Edwin A. Papiez, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed from this life and was received into the presence of Christ Jesus, his Savior, on Sunday, August 16, 2026. Ed was born and raised in Chicago in 1929, where he met and married his wife, Helen, whom he now joins in joyful reunion forever. Together, they raised four children, Anthony (Beverly) Papiez, Mary Moyer, Andrea (Gregory) Weaver, and Dr. Joseph (Deborah) Papiez. Ed also loved and enjoyed his grandchildren, Zachary and Caleb Papiez, Aaron (Rachel) Moyer, Josiah (Renee) Weaver, and Hannah (Caleb) Ward; as well as his great-grandchildren, Marley, Gabriel, Bennett, Amberlynn, and MacKenzie.
Ed's vocation was as an electrical engineer at General Electric in Fort Wayne, where he was highly regarded for his dedicated service over a 40 year career. Ed was also an accomplished musician, performing as a violinist with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic for 44 years. He certainly loved fine arts music, particularly the works of Johannes Brahms and the Sibelius violin concerto.
Ed's life was marked by generosity of spirit and charitable giving to those in difficult circumstances. He regularly attended Trinity Evangelical Church in Fort Wayne.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Sunday, August 23, 2026 at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, 6424 Winchester Road Fort Wayne, Indiana 46819. In lieu of flowers, Ed's family humbly request donations to the pro-life organization, Created Equal, or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Eternal rest, grant unto him, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon him.
