Jimmerson Lake, Angola, IN…Edyth Helen (Martin) Hugenell, age 85, passed away at Parkview Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, October 31, 2012. Edyth was born May 14, 1927 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to German immigrants Kurt Hermann & Martha Helene (Uhlig) Martin, who preceded her in death in 1973 and 1981 respectively. Edyth worked in the shoe department at Wolf and Dessauer / Ayres for over 17 years until she became self-employed in domestic and commercial cleaning.
Edyth loved being with her family and living on Jimmerson Lake, and we miss her smile and spirit! She enjoyed visiting and talking with her friends, but her passions were taking care of animals and birds and nurturing her many flowers. She also was an avid wrestling fan even at her tender age of 85. Over the years she was involved in The Three Rivers Orchid Society, Fort Wayne and Angola garden clubs, and the Fort Wayne Maennerchor-Damenchor; and she volunteered at the American Red Cross and Science Central in Fort Wayne.
Edyth was known as “Oma” to many, and she so enjoyed her 85th birthday celebrations this year with family, friends and business associates!
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Dennis (Denny) Worden of Jimmerson Lake; grandson Eric Worden and his wife Angela LaPierre Worden; two great-granddaughters, June Lynette Worden (age 3) and Josephine Denise Worden (age 1), all of Fort Wayne. Also surviving are relatives in Chemnitz, Germany.
Arrangements made by Klaehn, Fahl & Melton, 6424 Winchester Road; but to honor Edyth’s wishes, no public services will be held. Preferred memorials are to the Steuben County Humane Society, 1700 North 200 West, Angola, IN 46703.
