Egbert “Ed” McCarrol, 85, of Fort Wayne, passed away Monday, Nov. 5, 2012 at Covington Manor. Born April 6, 1927 in Harlem, NYC, McCarrol toured with the New York Broadway Clowns, a historic Negro basketball league. He retired as Assistant Supervisor of Transportation and Routing from Fort Wayne Community Schools after 30 years. He was a US Army Veteran, Airborne, and member of American Legion Post 148. Basketball and jazz were his passions.
He is survived by his children: Christine, Kevin, Eric, Tony (Terra), Sybil (Chris Couvillion) and Melissa, and 10 grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Edna (McNelly) McCarrol and daughters, Michelle McCarrol and Audrey Prindle.Funeral Service is 3:00pm Saturday, Nov. 10, with visitation from noon to 3:00pm, at Klaehn, Fahl and Melton Funeral Home, Wayne St. Chapel, 420 W.
