Eldon was in the United States Army, from 1966 until 1971. Eldon received his Purple Heart, on September 13, 1969.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen Lackey; a daughter, Danielle Lackey; a son, Bryan Lackey; two grandsons, Connor Lackey-Aumsbaugh and Daniel Lackey; two great-grandchildren.
