

ELEANOR McKIBBEN, 94, passed away Monday, Dec. 26, 2016. Born in Wynd ham, Mont. on July 4, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Luetta Jones. At age one her family moved to Bronson, Mich. She was married in 1941 to the late Veryl McKibben and lived in Orland, Ind. until 1958. They moved to Orlando, Fla. where they raised their family. In 1982, Eleanor moved to Fort Wayne, Ind. and started working at Dayton Hudson's which later became Marshall Field, she retired in 2002 at age 80. She excelled at sales and received sale recognition for being top salesperson before retiring. After retirement she dedicated most of her time to her Golden Retriever dogs, Murray and Muffy, which she referred to as her "pups." Always an outgoing and positive individual, Eleanor didn't know a stranger. She certainly enjoyed interacting with her hundreds of customers over the years. Surviving are her children, Dennis (Jan) McKibben, David McKibben, Douglas (Christine) McKibben; son-in-law, Ken Herold; grandchild, Dennis (Melissa) McKibben, Drew (Tina) McKibben, Alisa McKibben, Ken Herold Jr., Todd (Melissa) Herold, Michelle (Tony) Straessle, Megan (Ryan) Campbell, Mark McKibben, and Matthew McKibben; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces. Eleanor was preceded in death by her daughter, Darelyn Herold; granddaughter, Sherrie Hagesether; brothers, Lewis and Walt Jones; and sister, Evelyn Baker. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017 at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road. Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Visitation one hour prior. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne, Ind. Memorials may be made to the Allen County Humane Society.
