Eleanor "Ellie" Anne Reust

Eleanor (Ellie) Anne Reust, 79, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2023. She was born on October 20, 1943, to Edward and Magdalen (Nix) Schmitt in Huntington, Indiana. Ellie was a graduate of Huntington Catholic High School (Class of ‘61) and worked as the guidance secretary at Wayne High school for 24 years. She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Yoder, Indiana. In the late 1970’s, Ellie and her husband were foster parents to five babies through Catholic Charities. She enjoyed traveling and was a member of the All 50 Club, having visited all 50 states. Ellie was a Winter Texan spending the winter months in Port Aransas, Texas for twelve years. She loved camping and playing card games with her friends and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 59 years Harold “Harry” Reust; her children, Margi (Mike) Aker, Bill (Shari) Reust, Ed (Pam) Reust, Elaine (Todd) Eagan, and Matt (Tammy) Reust; her 14 grandchildren; her great-granddaughter arriving in December; her sister Margaret (Dave) Schnepp of Huntington, Indiana; and her brother Tom (Jane) Schmitt of Chandler, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Joe Schmitt, Carol Smart, and John Schmitt. Her many loved ones will miss her wonderful sense of humor, great stories, and her kindness. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, August 7, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 14623 Bluffton Road, Yoder, IN 46798 with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be on Sunday, August 6, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, 6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46819 with a Rosary Service beginning at 1:30 PM. Burial will be at the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to St. Aloysius Catholic Church and School.
