Elmer “Spud” Majors, 86, passed away on September 2, 2021 at his home in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born in Ashland City, TN on September 24, 1934, the son of the late J.C. Majors and Ernester Baker Majors. He graduated from Bransford High School in Springfield, TN in 1953, earned his Bachelor’s in Education from Tennessee State University in 1957, and his Master’s in 1968 from St. Francis College in Fort Wayne, IN. Elmer served in the U.S Army from 1958-1960. Elmer worked at Ft. Wayne Developmental Center for 36 years prior to retirement in 1996. He was a member of Southern Heights Baptist Church and enjoyed helping others.
He is survived by his son, Darryl L. ( Janeer) Majors; granddaughter, Carmeisha L. Majors, Ashley (Durell) Porter, grandson, Allen (Na'Quasha) Reed, great grandchildren, Akai, Abel, Amon, Sameeir, Ashten, Na’Quasha, Kenny, and a host of and nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins in Tennessee, as well as in-laws in St. Paul, MN; Memphis, TN; and Texas. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Zenobia “Nobe” Pearson, Buford “Buck” Majors, Donald “East” Majors, James Benjamin “J.B” Majors, Cordell “Cardell” Majors, Glen Majors, and Robert “Bobby” Majors. “Elmer your work is now done, rest in peace”.
Funeral service will take place at 1:30 pm on Friday, September 24, 2021 at D.O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Ft. Wayne, IN 46815 with calling one hour prior.
