

ERMA BENDER STALLINGS, entered Life Eternal on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015. She was a lifelong Lutheran attending Trinity Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, before moving to Lutheran Life Villages. Born in Rockford, Ohio, in 1923, she was a daughter of the late Bertha (Maury) and Carl L. Bender. The family moved to Fort Wayne, shortly after, calling Fort Wayne home. She graduated from Central High School and worked at various companies for many years. She enjoyed many happy years with her husband, Alfred E. Stalling until his death some 30 years ago. Erma's family was a great joy to her. She gave generously of her love to her nieces and nephews. They include Gail Blessing Patton of Jackson, Mich., Kurt (Kathleen) Blessing of Columbia City, Ind., Marc (Carol) Blessing of Lakewood, Ohio, Michael (Lois) Bender, Bruce (Kimberly) Bender, LuAnn and JoAnn Bender, and Dennis Bender, all of Fort Wayne, and their families. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Vilas Bender and his wife, Dorothy; sister, Rosemary Bender Blessing and her husband, Kenneth. Funeral service is 11:30 Tuesday at Lutheran Home Chapel, with visitation from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The family owes a great debt of gratitude to the nurses and staff of Lutheran Life Villages who lovingly cared for her these last nine years.
