

Esther A. York, 91, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2022. Esther was born December 26, 1930, in Fort Wayne, the sixth of eight girls born to Severt and Louise Winje. Esther graduated from North Side High School in 1949. She pursued her career until 1966 when she met Logan who was undeniably the love of her life. They happily wed and had a family which included 3 daughters and one son. Esther was not only a wonderful wife and mother, but also an avid traveler, visiting many countries with her sisters. In addition, she was a lifelong patron of the arts, enjoying the Philharmonic, theatre and local art fairs. She was, herself an artist, particularly enjoying ceramics. Esther got to fulfil her dream of sailing, becoming the captain of the SS Dreamer and sailed the Great Lakes for many years with her first mate Logan. An ever-faithful Chicago Cubs fan, she was lucky enough to see "her Cubs" win the world series in 2016. Esther will be greatly missed by her daughters Louise Stangland, Theresa Burns, Sarah (Kevin Ferguson) York; son, Logan K; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; sisters Ruth, Aimee, Karen and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 55 years Logan C.; and sisters Dorothy, Edel, Marie, and Janet. There are no services planned at this time. Arrangements have been entrusted to D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave, Fort Wayne.
