Filbert R. Torbeck

Filbert R. Torbeck, 84, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2018. He was born on Thursday, November 2, 1933, in Fort Wayne to the late Arthur and Martha Torbeck. He worked for International Harvester for 30 years before retiring in 1982. Filbert enjoyed going out to eat and made many relationships over the years at his usual hangouts with his friend, Jerry. He also enjoyed racing, especially at Baer Field, where he met several friends. Filbert and his late son, Terry, had a special bond and shared many interests. Filbert is survived by his granddaughter, Laura (Jeff) Diver; great-grandsons, Landon and Mason Diver; sister, Arlene Rice; nephews, Curt and Craig; niece, Cinda; special friend, Jerry; and his long-time bird, Chester. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Terry Torbeck. Funeral service will be on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home (6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46819). Visitation will also be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Services of NE Indiana or the American Heart Association.
