Obituary of Gail Ann Linn
After a nine-month battle with cancer, Gail Ann Linn (Oswald), 84, passed away in Fort Wayne, Indiana on May 24, 2024. Gail was born on March 24, 1940 in Marion, Ohio to Rolland and Edna Oswald, she graduated from Sandusky High School in 1958. During her high school years, she worked the cash register at a local grocery store, beginning her love for coin collecting as she kept an eye out for rare coins from customers. In July of that same year, she married Wayne Linn and spent several years in New Jersey while Wayne served in the Coast Guard, before eventually settling in Fort Wayne. After divorcing in 1994, Gail met her 30-year companion Hubert Roethele and retired to Summersville, MO where they spent their days caring for their 3 Arabian horses, 2 dogs and cat on their farm. Gail also worked part-time at the Summersville Community Bank and State Farm during her time there. Gail had a keen eye for interior decorating, loved animals and had a great love of antiques influenced by her grandparents. She was always up for an antiquing adventure! She spoke fondly of summers spent on her grandparents' farm, and boating adventures with her grandfather. For several years Gail was involved in decorating homes for the Fort Wayne Parade of Homes, and worked for Kittles and Ervin Brothers Furniture stores. She took great pride in decorating her own home as well. Gail had a great love of animals, and was part-owner of Linns Hyview Arabians where she bred and raised national-quality Arabian horses. She could muck out a stall without a hair out of place or chipping a nail, and owned horses up until just this past year. She also owned and showed Standard Poodles, and most recently owned Welsh Pembrook corgis. She had a love of hummingbirds, attracting more than 60 birds at a time to her well-cared for feeders. Gail’s devoted circle of friends and family have many fond memories of her, and she will be greatly missed. She is survived by her companion, Hubert Roethele; son, Randy Linn; son-in-law, Carl Thomas; grandson, Colton (Ariel) Linn; granddaughters, Angela (Tyler) Davis and Jessica (Russell) Carter; great grandchildren, Lyla, Eila, Kyla, Mary Lynn and Ethan, Sister, Linda (Monte) Havens, niece Laura (Mac) Lang, nephews Jesse (Terri) Havens, Jason (Susan) Havens, and Jonathan Havens, along with 5 great-nephews and 2 great-nieces.
