Gail Lynette Nix

She graduated from Indiana University with her bachelor’s degree in education and then later received her master’s degree in education from IPFW. Gail was a schoolteacher for 30 years, mostly at Haverhill Elementary.

Gail devoted her life to her children and grandchildren who she adored. She loved going to the lake, evening pontoon rides with the grandkids and loved going to lunch with her fellow teacher friends. She also enjoyed dancing.

She is survived by her children, Nathan (Jennifer) Nix, Daniel (Jessica) Nix, Rebecca Coen, Joshua (Shannon) Nix and Rachel (David) Zwieg; siblings, Wallace Smith, Nolene Smith; grandchildren, Madelyn (Nick) Tilford, Katelyn Nix, Ella Nix, Ava Nix, Grant Nix, William Nix, Carson Nix, Emma Nix and Campbell Nix.

Gail was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Nix.

Visitation will be on Sunday, May 31, 2026, from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm, at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Home- Covington Knolls, 8325 Covington Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46804. A funeral service will be on Monday, June 1, 2026, at The Chapel, 2505 W Hamilton Rd S, Fort Wayne, IN 46814, at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior to the service. She will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
