Garry graduated from Churubusco High School. He was retired and found steady enjoyment in the things that spoke to his interests and sense of pride—trucks, hot rods, and the Indianapolis Colts. He also had a fond favorite tradition of getting margaritas at Cebollas Mexican Restaurant, and he carried a genuine love for animals.
Garry is survived by his mother, Deanna Meditz; brother, Jerry Johnson; her sons, Corry Johnson and Chase Johnson; grandson, Xander Johnson; granddaughter, Aurora Johnson; and his life partner, Beth Ulrich.
He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Johnson, and a sister, Sherry Johnson.
