Mike served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and was a Purple Heart recipient. He later worked as a supervisor at Sherwood Food Distributors for many years.
In his spare time he enjoyed whistling, making new acquaintances, watching Notre Dame football, taking care of animals, maintaining a meticulously groomed lawn, putting way too much salt and pepper on his food, and listening to country music. Mike was a pretty stellar guy.
Mike is survived by his mother, Alyce Canfield; wife, Sharon Canfield; children, Cathy (Marvin) Andrews, Tracy (Jeff) Weichselfelder, Todd (Monica) Brase, and Allie (Tony) Paske; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; siblings Dan Canfield, Lisa Fitzsimmons, and Kelly Canfield.
He was preceded in death by his father, Don Canfield, and his sister, Lindsey Thomas.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, January 11th, 2019, 2 PM at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46815.
