Geneva Johnson

Geneva Johnson, 79, passed away March 24, 2023, at Lutheran Life Villages, South Anthony in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born April 12, 1943, in West Memphis, AR, the daughter of John Henry Edwards and Lilly Mae Hudson.

Geneva worked in Chicago at the Marriott Hotel as a uniform supervisor for many years. She was passionate about her plants and helping anyone that crossed her path. She cared about the community she lived in as she lived in Eden Green apartments for over 15 years. She often advocated for the children, making sure they had fun things to do in the hot summer months, and making sure they were safe. Geneva made her own rules in life but always put God first. She was loving, strong, smart and sassy.

She is survived by her husband Charles Ferguson of Fort Wayne; children Lashanda (Sam) Franklin of Fort Wayne, IN; Christopher Johnson of Fort Wayne, IN; Brandon Johnson (Shamika) of Dalton, IL; five grandchildren (Ciera Moore (Adidas), Lil Brandon Johnson Monroe, Lil Christopher Johnson, BreAunna Bledsoe, Shawndrell Franklin Aeriel Franklin, Sam Franklin of Chicago, IL, and 10 great grandchildren; as well as special nieces and nephews and a host of close friends and loved ones.

Geneva was preceded in death by her siblings, John Edwards, Sandra Edward and James Edwards.

Funeral service will be 3pm Sunday, April 2, 2023, at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home 1140 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne IN, with visitation from 1-3 pm at the funeral home.
