

On April 12, 2026, George Mihavics, 93, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, quietly slipped into the arms of our Heavenly Father. He was born to Charles and Julia (Maluke) Mihavics, who preceded him in death. George lived a life of love, family, kindness, generosity and patriotism.
On August 31, 1954, he married the love of his life, Carolyn Leonard, and enjoyed 71 years of love, laughter and life with their family and friends.
George served his country proudly in the Air Force for four years and two years in the Naval Reserve. He then attended DeVry Technical Institute and completed an associate degree.
After retiring from Magnavox-Raytheon, George was a founding member of the Hoosier War Birds in Auburn, Indiana. He continued to be an active member of the Shoaff Park Lions Club for many years. He was given the highest form of recognition by Lions International for his commitment to humanitarian service, the Melvin James Fellow Award. George also served on the Selective Service board for 20 years. He was also a long-standing, active member of Bethany United Methodist Church. He enjoyed his Model A and belonged to the Model A Club.
George is survived by his devoted wife, Carolyn; and children, Andrea (Stan) Bowser, Ron (Lauri) Mihavics, Susan Huglin and Jim Mihavics. He was blessed with grandchildren, Gabe, Josh, Justin, Cory, Dylan, Connor, Grayson, Carolyn, Chase, Nick, Blake, Eric and Chase. And, his blessings continued with great-grandchildren, Layla, Keaton, Eva, Tucker, Branch, Garrison, Benny and Carter. He is also survived by brother, John Mihavics of Akron, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by brothers, Charles Mahovich, Mike Mihavics; and sisters, Mary Didyk, Sophie Jackovic, Anne Krayeski, Julia Masika; and son in law, Russ Huglin.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Monday, April 20, 2026, at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, IN.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at Bethany United Methodist Church, 7715 Sunny Lane, Fort Wayne, IN, with visitation at 9:30 am. Burial and committal will be at Highland Park Cemetery in the Veteran’s section.
In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials are to Northeast Indiana Honor Flight and Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
