Gilbert P. Springer, 87, of Fort Wayne, passed away Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011 at Lutheran Life Villages. Born Dec. 29, 1923 in Fort Wayne, he retired in 1986 after 35 years with C. H. Kraus Sheet Metal. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of Trinity Suburban Lutheran Church, Lutheran Men of Song and was past commander of American Legion Post 82. Surviving are his son, Stephen C. (Terryl) Springer, of Fort Wayne; brothers, Garold F. Springer, of Fort Wayne and Milton L. Springer, of Auburn; sisters, Hildegard S. Blondell, of Waynedale and Rosalin I. Unverzagt, of Fort Wayne and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice, second wife, Violet and sister, Norma Pardue. Funeral Service is 10:00 am Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011 at Trinity Suburban Lutheran Church, 7819 Decatur Rd. with calling one hour prior. Visitation is 2-6 pm Wednesday at Klaehn, Fahl and Melton, Winchester Rd. Chapel, 6424 Winchester Rd. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens.
