Gloria Audrey Ashman

Gloria Audrey Ashman, age 96 passed peacefully on to her eternal home on Sunday, April 10, 2022. Gloria was born September 16, 1925 at her home in Brooklyn , New York to Louis and Lillian Gaa. She attended Mayland College of Women and then received her Certification of Occupational Therapy(William and Mary University). She completed her B.S. Degree at NYU. She was recruited to start an Occupational Department at Drake Memorial Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio where she met and married her husband, William Ashman. This was the beginning of a beautiful love story which lasted more than 66 years. After moving to fort Fort Wayne, she became an active member of the community doing volunteer work while raising her family.. She was a 57 year member of Psi Iota Xi Sorority and was respected for her loyalty and being a classic lady in her endeavors. She was a member of Waynedale United Methodist Church for over 50 years. Gloria had a love of life and a dedication for making herself useful. She enjoyed playing bridge, golf and other activities. She loved poetry and frequently would spontaneously recite verses from her favorites. She is survived by her husband, William Ashman; daughters Barbara (Jeff) Pick; Beth (Joe) Donnell; Patty (Steve) Leslie; seven grandchildren: Michael (Brianna) Donnell; Mandy (Mike) Smith; Laura (Peter) Ali; Angie (C.J.) Talley; Audrey (Turner) Pick; Griffin and Zach Leslie, followed by a parade of eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son, William Ashman, Jr.; sister Muriel Romer; brother, Don Gaa. A visitation for Gloria will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 6750 Covington Rd., Fort Wayne, IN 46804, followed by a memorial service at 4:00 PM. Memorials in Gloria's memory may be made to Waynedale Unitied Methodist Church, 2501 Church Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46809; and Stillwater Hospice, 5910 Homestead Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46814.
