

Godfrey F. "Cap" Strack, 89, passed Monday morning, October 28th surrounded by his wife and family. Born October 4, 1924, he was a descendent of the Miami War Chief, Chief Little Turtle and a member of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma. He was a 1942 graduate of Central Catholic High School and an Army Veteran of WWII. He retired in 1992 from New Haven Wire and Cable. He loved God, his Wife, his family and his friends; singing, telling stories, and breakfast at Nine Mile. He was a good man and he will be missed. R.I.P Papa. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Rita (Beckman) Strack; Sons, Greg (Irene), Paul (Melanie), Tim (Insuk), Jeff “Ozzy” (Becky), Andy (Yvonne) and Joe (Shelby); Daughters, Eileen Hoskins, Carolyn (John) Spenn, Margaret Meyer, Beth (Tim) Sensibaugh and Jane (Scott) Beerman; Sisters, Mary Swenda and Priscilla Van Allen; 35 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles L. and Priscilla (Freiburger) Strack; Brothers, James, Robert, Charles “Tony” and Edward Strack and one sister, Catherine Nagy; his favorite son-in-law, Dan Hoskins and more than a few prairie dogs from South Dakota. Prairie Dogs in South Dakota can rest a little easier tonight. Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 am on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church-Hessen Cassel, 11337 Old Decatur Road South, Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be 3-8 pm on Friday, November 1, 2013 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne with a rosary service at 7:00 pm. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Masses or St. Joseph Catholic Church-Hessen Cassel school fund.
