Gordon (Gordy) R. Orr, 83, left us Wednesday, September 2, 2020, peacefully, at home, with his loving wife and family by his side. Gordon was born on April 25, 1937 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Melba and Roy Orr.
Gordy graduated from Central High School in 1956 and worked as a Regional Sales Manager at Seyfert’s Food for nearly 40 years, most of his working life. He was an active member and Elder of Christ’s Hope Ministries and Church. Gordy was passionate about IU basketball, Notre Dame Football, and being active outdoors. He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Jeffrey Orr, and his parents. Gordy is survived by his loving wife, Sharon (Witmer) Orr; daughters, Julie Palermo, Cynthia Wright, Christine Orr; son, Matthew Orr (Heidi); step-daughter, Molly (Kevin) Simmons; step-son, Scott Swank; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild; as well as his devoted companion and lifelong friend until the end, his dog, Sadie.
A gathering of family and friends will be on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 10:00 am, with calling one hour prior, at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home (1320 East Dupont Road, Fort Wayne). Calling also on Friday, September 11, 2020 from 4-7 pm. For those who are unable to attend, Gordy's service will also be live-streamed on Facebook.
