Greg built a career as an electrician and project coordinator at Votaw Electric. It was in Columbus, Ohio, where he met the love of his life, Maureen McCon — the two locked eyes across a crowded parking lot, a moment that would shape the rest of both their lives.
Greg had a gift for finding magic in the small, quiet moments in life. He was an avid reader who loved literature of all kinds, always with a book in hand. It was the outdoors where his heart truly lived - the hush of a quiet morning, the pull of a canoe through still water, the patience of waiting for a fish to bite, or the quiet roar of a bonfire. For Greg, happiness was shown with his perpetual smile and songbird whistle.
Greg leaves behind his wife of over 40 years, Maureen McCon; his daughter, Emma [Stephen] Clouse; his son, Gabe [Kiki] Gemperline; and his siblings, Kathi, Nancy, Berry [Laura], Jo Ellen, and Dan [Kathy]; and his three grandchildren Theo, Anthie, and Gregory. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sarah Gemperline.
The family would like to give thanks to the care teams that supported Greg in his last year of life, they give a special thanks to Rachel and Laurel who cared for him in his last days.
A celebration of life will be held at St Mary Mother of God Catholic Church on October 24th, 2026 from 1-4pm.
