Gregory Slusser

Gregory D. Slusser, 74, passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Bethlehem Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born in Marion, IN to the late Clarence and Charlotte (Burnside) Slusser. Greg served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. While in the military he prepared over 800 soldiers to be sent back home to their families. Greg also received the Bronze Service Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. He married Dianna (Smith) on September 2, 1978 and she survives. Greg was the plant manager at Eagle Picher Plastics until his retirement. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Greg enjoyed cooking, telling stories and jokes. He was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed. Surviving are his children, Rob (Karin) Slusser, Michelle Massey, Steve (Becky) Slusser, Brian (Ashley) Slusser, Amanda (Joshua) Rodriguez, and Patrick (Sarah) Slusser; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Steve (Rose) Slusser, Sharon (Hubert) Whitt, and Cindy (Larry) Schlichter. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Linda Buroker, John Slusser, Phillip Slusser and Duane Koon. Mass of Christian Burial is at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with visitation one hour prior to Mass. Visitation also from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at Advantage Highland Park Funeral Home, 2403 East Wallen Road, Fort Wayne. Burial following in Highland Park Cemetery with Military Honors. Memorial contributions may be made to Northeast Indiana Honor Flight or Indiana Canine Assistant Network.

I remember how handsome my uncle Greg looked when he returned home from war and showed up at our house in full uniform ..I remember thinking he like a “man”as all I remembered before he left was shorts T-shirts’ and lots of fun and laughs last wonderful conversation with Uncle Greg was at my mothers home going funeral at Grant Memorial March 12 ..we really had a great talk !.I felt his love and sadness for our family ..and many great memories shared once again tractor rides potlucks and gpa Clarence !who knew grant Memorial would hold so many family memories for us both !!what a great family legacy you all have in your dad grandpa and great grandpa!our loss is heavens gain though!
