Harold "Pete" E. Kelley, 91, passed away Sunday, Sept. 12, 2021. Born Dec. 16, 1929 in Shelbyville, Ind. he was a son of the late Forrest and Mary Kelley. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957, serving as an instructor for guided missiles, and received a good conduct medal.
Pete was employed by Zollner Corp. for 30 years. He also enjoyed painting for various customers in the area, where he was sometimes referred to as "Pete the Painter."
He is survived by his children, Robert Kelley, Kevin (Lisa Howard) Kelley, Kathy (Jon) Spillson, Pam (Jim) Owens, Phyllis Herendeen, and Pam Taflinger; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Alice Kelley; daughter, Connie Fischer; daughter-in-law, Janet Kelley; son-in-law, Doug Herendeen; two grandchildren, Charlton Michael "Obie" Payton and Ryan Fischer; and siblings, Nancy Graham and Paul Kelley. Private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
