Harold L. Mowan

Harold Mowan, a lifelong Indiana resident of Fort Wayne and surrounding areas died on Tuesday, Oct 10, 2023. Born in 1936, Harold was born to John and Barbara (Musser) Mowan. He graduated from South Side High School in 1955, served in the National Guard, was a Boy Scout Leader, employed by City Utilities, Joselyn Stainless Steel, International Harvester, and retired from Flashfold Cartons. Harold and Cleo (Ray) were married for 66 years, and had 4 children; Lori (Steve) Crain of Lafayette, IN, Denise (Otto Paul) Pruitt of Mishawaka, IN, Amy (John) Kolb of Fort Wayne, IN, Terry (Jaime) Mowan of Bluffton, IN; nephews, Rick (Mary) Mowan, Larry (Mary) Mowan, and Mark Mowan. Harold is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Carl Mowan; sister-in-law, Anna Leichty Mowan; cousin, Frances Dewey; and son-in-law, Otto P. Pruitt Jr. He leaves behind his wife, Cleo; children; grandchildren, Erin (Charlie) Wysong, Zach Pruitt, Jennifer (Jesse) Beam, Daniel Pruitt, Nathaniel Crain and fiancé Tiffany Hanna, Noah Pruitt, Katelyn Kolb, Joseph Pruitt, Lucas Kolb; and great grandchildren, Clara Wysong, Mira Wysong, Calvin Beam. An avid fisherman, Harold was an active life-long member of his church, Smith Street Church of the Brethren, and Lincolnshire Church of the Brethren, and leaves a host of family and friends, and neighbors that shared his love of camping and fishing, and the story telling that sprang from his adventurous childhood and those camping and fishing experiences. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Lincolnshire Church of the Brethren, 6404 S Calhoun St, Fort Wayne, IN, 46807 at 1:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. before the service.
