Helen Kathleen "Katie" Hammons, 83, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2022, after an 8-yearlong battle with Parkinson's disease, and dementia. Born on August 31, 1938, in Kansas City, Missouri, she was a daughter of the late Ben and Evelyn McReynolds.
Katie is survived by her husband of over 63 years, William E. Hammons Jr.; sons, Bill (Jill) Hammons III, Douglas (Doretha Ballard) Hammons, and Jim (Debbie) Hammons; as well as six grandchildren, and one great-grandson.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, with calling from 11:00 am, until time of service. Entombment will take place in Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
