She was born on August 12, 1928, in Kimberly, MN. She was the daughter of the late Winsel Hlawek and Kate (Dannenfelzer) Hlawek.
Helen moved to Fort Wayne, IN at the age of 18. She began working at General Electric Co. (G.E.) as a Specifications Clerk and retired in 1988 after 42 years of service.
She was a longtime and devoted member of St. Jude Catholic Church.
She enjoyed volunteering for Cancer Services, sewing pads and filling food bags for those in need at the Community Harvest Food Bank.
Helen was also preceded in death by three brothers, Roy Balliet, Charles Hlawek and Frank Hlawek, and four sisters, Francis Ferlita, Irene Fisher, Catherine Dolan and Elsie Hlawek.
Surviving are her niece, Phyllis (Lehman) Oldenkamp of Fort Wayne, IN; nephew, Harvey (Janet) Trees of West Wendover, NV; great nieces, Kimberly Lehman, Joyce Carroll, Sarah (Greg) Gustafson and Carrie Frances Ferlita and great nephews, Kyle (Amy) Lehman, James (Dee) Fisher, Jerry Fisher and Charles Hlawek.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 am - 11:00 am on Monday, August 25, 2025, at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Maplewood Park, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne, IN. Rosary service will begin at 11:00 am followed by the service.
Helen will be laid to rest in Forest Cemetery in Aitkin, MN.
Interment arrangements have been entrusted to Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home and
Cremation Services - Aitkin, MN.
