

Irene (Bennett) Werling, 83, of Fort Wayne, passed away at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, August 12, 2020. Irene was born on May 7, 1937, in Salford, Lancashire, England, to Raymond and Elsie (Kendall) Tetlow. After marrying, Irene emigrated to the U.S. in 1958, eventually moving to Fort Wayne where she raised her family. Irene worked various jobs over the years and retired from Walmart in 2016 after 16 years of service. Her passions included bowling, gardening, and sewing but most of all her seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was fun-loving, always willing to help and never knew a stranger. Irene is survived by her children, Karen Cripe of Mount Vernon, Iowa; Anthony Bennett, Jacqueline Wolfe, and Kelly Wolfe of Fort Wayne; her grandchildren Tracey Darrow (David), Lindsey and Nicole Wolfe, Andrew Bennett, and Christian and Lily Cripe; and great-grandchildren Gabriella Hughes, Jack, Lillian, and Ethan Darrow, Lukus and Theo Neumann, Isaac, Raymond, and Samuel Bennett. Irene was preceded in death by daughter Lisa Bennett, granddaughter Kayleigh Jo Bennett, and also by her parents and brothers, Raymond, Harry, and Leslie Tetlow, and sister Joyce Betts, all of England. In honor of Irene, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Visiting Nurse of Fort Wayne.
