
JACK J. ROBERTS, 91, of Avilla, formerly of Fort Wayne, Ind. and Lake George, Mich., passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012 at Provena Sacred Heart Home. He was born June 17, 1921, in Terre Haute, Ind., the son of the late Jack and Dorothy McKinney Roberts. He was a 1939 graduate of Anderson High School and a 1943 graduate of Purdue University where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. In the late 1950's he was part of a Fort Wayne group which founded Physicians Plaza, one of the first primary care physicians associations in the Midwest and which is now known as Brooklyn Medical Associates. He was a Fellow in the American College of Apothecaries and a Diplomat of the American Board of Pharmacy International. He also served as Deputy Coroner of Allen County for four years. He loved bass fishing and golf and he loved Pat Reade of Kendallville, who for the past 11 years was his significant other and constant companion. He was blessed with a loving family including 20 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his first wife, Elizabeth L. Roberts of West Lafayette; three children, Thomas A. Roberts of New York City, Mike Roberts of Cincinnati, Ohio and Kathy Timberlake of West Lafayette; and his stepchildren, Cheryl Horstman of Angola, Phil Hockemeyer of Indianapolis, Steve Hockemeyer of Indianapolis and Todd Hockemeyer of Fishers. He was preceded in death by his son, James Steven Roberts, and his second wife, Joan C. Roberts. Service is 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012 at Provena Sacred Heart Home, Avilla, with calling one hour prior.
