As a kid, Jim loved his pups, the horse he had, and loved to make things out of wood. He was a boyscout and followed in his father's footsteps with the scouts. He was a graduate of Purdue University, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. With his degree, he worked at International Harvester (Navistar) for over 55 years in heavy duty truck brakes. He loved the big trucks and got his CDL so he could drive them around the test track, and loved his IH Scouts. He owned two scouts, and was proud to be a part of the group starting the museum for all things International Harvester. Kaye was the love of his life. They were high school sweethearts, and he loved her from the moment he met her and continued to love her every day after she passed. They were married 63 years and are now together again. They had lake cottages over the years, and always loved when the children and grandchildren would come up on the weekends. Dad showed us all up when he took to the waterskis when he was 70 years old. We cannot forget his sense of humor, his jokes, and his "dadisms". His hobby was woodworking in his shop. He made so many beautiful pieces over the years for his family and friends. He was a kind and gentle soul, and was always available if you needed him. He was always there to help family and friends. If you needed something fixed, he was always your first call. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church for 34 years and carried his building talents with him to the church. He was Potentate at the Mizpah Shrine in 1998, and loved helping the children from the children’s hospitals. He was also a 32nd degree Mason, 3Rivers 733 Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Lamp Lighters Past President Society of Engineering Employees, Chairman of the Board, and an Air Force Veteran, Airman 2nd Class, and Air National Guard. He loved God, his country, and adored his family. As he always loved so deeply, he was so very proud to be Gramps to his two grandchildren, and to two beautiful great-granddaughters. He would always light up when he saw their faces. He is predeceased by his loving wife, Kaye (Heare); and grandson, James (Fletchall); and several of his Mizpah Shrine brothers. He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca (Becky Lobsiger-Lamier); son-in-law, Steve (Lamier); and son Jeffery, and son-in-law, Gregorio (Olivares); granddaughter, Jillianne (Reichard); grandson, Jacob (Sydney) Lamier; great-granddaughters, Tyler Kaye (Reichard), and Charlee Mae (Reichard). He is additionally survived by his sister, Beverly (Rich); and many nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his seven, 4-legged grand-pups.
