

James Lester “Jim” Scheil, age 69, of Fort Wayne passed away Saturday, July 28, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a graduate of Northside High School in 1967. Jim began a career in mechanical contracting and founded Summit Mechanical, Inc. in 1984. Jim's talents and accomplishments were many, he was a beloved husband, father and grandfather as well as a steadfast and loyal friend to many. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially at his home in Bonita Springs, Florida and was an avid golfer who particularly enjoyed his regular Wednesday foursome at Fort Wayne Country Club. A true son of Fort Wayne, Jim was very generous with his talents and treasure from being on the Allen County Building Department Board of Directors for over 20 years to quietly supporting many local organizations and charities. He was inducted into the Greater Fort Wayne Business Hall of Fame in 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents William H. Sr. and Ruth, sister Patricia and brother Karl. Jim is survived by his wife of 39 years, Deborah S., brother William H. Scheil Jr. of Richmond, VA, daughter Christina Williamson of Indianapolis, daughter Amanda Roebel and son-in-law Greg Roebel of Fort Wayne, stepson Joe Dye and daughter-in-law Marion Dye of Raleigh, NC and 7 grandchildren: Madeline Roebel, Emma Dye, Wyatt Willamson, Lillie Roebel, Lillian Dye, Cooper Williamson and Margaret Dye along with numerous family and friends. Service is 10:30 am, Thursday August 2, 2018 at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road with calling one hour prior, with Rev. Mark Minnick officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 1, 2018, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Entombment in Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
