James Robert Schmidt

James Robert Schmidt, age 72, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2025, born on August 26, 1952. James graduated from Snider High School and furthered his education at Purdue University, West Lafayette, where he honed the skills that would define his career.

Professionally, James was a dedicated structural engineer at MSKTD, where he retired after many years of distinguished service. His work, characterized by meticulous attention to detail and a robust understanding of engineering principles, left a lasting impact on numerous projects.

James was a dedicated golfer, a hobby that he pursued with the same fervor and precision as his professional undertakings. This love for golf provided him not just relaxation but also an avenue to form lasting friendships .

He is survived by his spouse, Becky Schmidt; his daughter, Jenn Stillman; his son, Michael Schmidt, and sisters Marilyn and Peggy. James was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Rosemary Schmidt. He loved his 4 granddaughters, Ellie, Sierra, Clara and Nora. A memorial service to celebrate Jim's life will be held in April, with the exact date to be determined. His family invites those who knew James to join in remembering his life and contributions.
