Obituary of James B. Zurbuch
James “Jim” Byron Zurbuch, 85, of Fort Wayne, passed away on November 18, 2019 at Bethlehem Woods Nursing & Rehabilitation. Born October 26, 1934 in Fort Wayne, he was a son of the late Edward and Agnes (Luly) Zurbuch. A graduate of Central Catholic High School, Jim served two years in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas. Jim worked in the commercial construction industry for over 50 years working commercial ceiling/drywall and was the founder and owner of Jameco Specialties and ADM Interiors. A man of deep faith, Jim was a lifelong, devout Catholic, avid golfer and committed to his work. His strong work ethic had served as an inspiration to his children. He most recently attended St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. He is survived by his dearly loved wife, Sandra Deatrick Zurbuch of Fort Wayne; children, Kari (Tom) Jenkins of Fort Wayne, Dan (Lisa) Zurbuch of Arlington Heights, Ill., Jennifer (Warren) Cartwright of Melbourne, Fla., David (Amy) Zurbuch of Chapel Hill, N.C., Andrew (Paula) Zurbuch of Unionville, Ind., Christopher (Messina) Zurbuch of Pomona, Calif., Mark (Sylvia) Deatrick of Tucson, AZ., and Lora Deatrick Derrow of Defiance, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Don (Sally) Zurbuch of Fort Wayne and Edward (Marge) Zurbuch of Buffalo, N.Y.; and sister-in-law, Teri Zurbuch of Fort Wayne. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Zurbuch; siblings, Richard Zurbuch, Jenny Wendt, and Diane Zurbuch; grandson, Samuel Zurbuch; and brother-in-law, Leonard Wendt. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30am on Monday, December 9, 2019 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4916 Trier Rd., Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. A luncheon will follow at the conclusion of the service. Memorials may be made to the Parkinson Foundation or to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Flowers may be sent directly to the church.
