Janet Mae Patterson

Janet Mae Patterson, 89, of Fremont, Indiana, formerly of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2022. Born on November 1, 1932, in San Antonio, Texas, to Henry Gass and raised by Venita Mae, she grew up with her sister, Wanita.

Janet graduated from Sam Houston High School, and shortly thereafter married Ross Patterson, with whom she raised a family of five children: Ross-Edward, twins, Wayne and Gene, Sharron, and Christy. She truly enjoyed her profession as a dental assistant/office manager with Jay Patterson out of Austin, TX. She had a love for Texas football, mostly rooting for the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans, and she was always down for a game of cards. Jan loved EVERYONE, especially all of her family, which includes 5 children, 14 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren and her little dog, Peaches, too.

Anyone that knew Jan, knew she enjoyed ice cold miller lite or long island iced teas. She wasn’t afraid to party with the best of them, and was loved by all! She is survived by her son, Wayne Patterson, of Fremont, IN; daughter, Christy Mendez of San Antonio, TX; and her sister, Wanita Faulkner of San Antonio, TX. She was preceded in death by her Father & Mother, Henry & Venita Gass; Husband, Ross Edward Patterson; and Children, Ross Edward (Eddie) & Kathleen (Kathy) Patterson, Gene Patterson, Sharron & Benjamin Sembera.

A Celebration of Janet’s Life will be held in Fort Wayne, IN, on May 21, 2022, from 1pm-4pm, at 4505 Denali Cove, Fort Wayne, IN 46845, and another in Schertz, TX, on June 25, 2022, from 12pm-5pm at 19094 Old Wiederstein Road, Schertz, TX 78108.
