Jeffrey Alan Johanningsmeier

Jeffrey Alan Johanningsmeier, age 43, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2022, far too soon for all who knew and loved him. He was born March 2, 1979, in Vincennes, Indiana, where he grew up on the family farm.

Jeffrey graduated from North Knox High School in 1997 and attended Purdue University where he earned his degree in Actuarial Science. For the past 20 years, he worked for Swiss Re in Fort Wayne, where he served as a Vice-President and Pricing Actuary. He was loved by his coworkers and friends - really all who knew him. Jeff loved being outdoors, riding his Harley, running, golf, travel, music, watching Purdue basketball and sharing all of that and more with his family and friends. He made every moment in his too-short time count. Jeff will forever be remembered for his big heart; he was truly the very best husband and father, son and brother, friend and uncle, and "his legacy will live on in all of us who will forever try to emulate his kind spirit." Jeff will be forever cherished as a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife and soulmate, Kate Johanningsmeier; and their two children, Hannah (Vince Rosales) and Noah Johanningsmeier. He was their whole world, as they were to him. Jeff also leaves behind his parents, Roger and Chris; his sister, Kari Johanningsmeier Preston of Carmel, Indiana, and her children, Claire and Grant; sister-in-law, Emily (Paul) Richwine, and their children, Maddie and Jack. Jeff was preceded in death by his brother, Ryan Johanningsmeier; paternal grandparents, Carl and Marilyn Johanningsmeier; and maternal grandparents, Ray and Ida Bottema.

A funeral service to honor Jeffrey's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also take place from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Lindenwood Cemetery.
