JERRY EDWARD FEDERSPIEL, of Fort Wayne, died on June 17, 2013. He departed this world with a confident faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that he will live with Him forever. Born May 22, 1942, in Columbia City, he was a son of Dorothy E. Jones (stepfather, Dean Tinney) and the late Leon "Andy" L. Federspiel. He was raised in Fort Wayne and graduated from North Side High School in June of 1960. He entered the U.S. Air Force and retired in August of 1981 as a Master Sergeant. His decorations include Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal (with four oak leaf clusters), Air Force Commendation Medal (with four oak leaf clusters), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal (with six oak leaf clusters), National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (with one silver and two bronze stars), Korean Defense Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal, and he earned the Master Command and Control insignia. He performed as 'Pefeser Zoomy', a professional clown, retiring from clowning in September of 2006. He was a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 857. Also surviving are his wife, Belinda L. Federspiel; sisters, Carol Lahr; brothers, Andrew and Earnest Federspiel; children, John Kenneth Federspiel Anderson, Anne-Marie Federspiel Anderson Gaddis, Anh-Minh T. Federspiel. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Janetta McArdle and Sandra Eix. Funeral service is 12 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2013, at C.M. Sloan & Sons Funeral Home, 1327 N. Wells St., Fort Wayne, with calling from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please send donations to The American Diabetes Foundation.
