Jerry L. Grimes

Jerry L. Grimes, 92, of Battle Creek, Mich., and formerly of Fort Wayne, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2020 at his North Pointe Woods home in Battle Creek, Mich. Born November 25, 1927 in Manila, Arkansas, he was a son of the late Edgar and Hattie (Alston) Grimes. A graduate of Manila High School, he proudly served in the U.S. Army and pursued his education at Arkansas State earning a Bachelor of Science in Education. He was a research engineer with Phelps Dodge Magnet Wire for over 35 years, from which he retired. He was a member of Grace Point Church of the Nazarene and Servants On Wheels Ever Ready (SOWERs). Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Doris (Cobb) Grimes of Battle Creek, Mich.; son, Greg (Cheryl) Grimes of Marshall, Mich.; daughter, Jeanne (Bruce) Kraick of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Monte, Ruby, and Faye; and great-grandson, Maxton Ahdel. Funeral Service is 11:00 am on Monday, January 13, 2020 at Grace Point Church of the Nazarene, 8611 Mayhew Rd., Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Burial at Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
