Jerry Lee Yerkes, 81, of Ligonier, Ind., passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021 at Parkview Randallia. Born November 21, 1939 in Camden, Ind., he was the son of the late Herb and Doraline (Zook) Yerkes. A graduate of Camden High School, Jerry was a local basketball star. He served in the US Navy Reserves and furthered his education at Delta State University where he graduated with a bachelor degree in Accounting. Jerry was an accountant at GTE and later the CEO at General Credit Union, from which he retired. He was also an avid golfer and man of faith. His faith in Jesus never wavered. He is survived by his children, Leigh Yerkes of Fort Wayne, Todd Yerkes of Fort Wayne, and Katrina (Dave) Jones of Ligonier, Ind.; and grandchildren, Grey Gordon, Tate Garringer, Madeline Garringer, Amelia Looney, Elijah Looney, Michael McCord, and Quin McCord. He was also preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Constance Yerkes; and daughter, Juli Scheele. Services will be held at a later date.
