

Dr. Jesse J. Barron
Dr. Jesse J. Barron, 85, was born in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Gus and Rosie Barron. Jesse relocated to Chicago, Illinois after his service in the United States Army. He later came to Fort Wayne, Indiana, where his cousin had a job waiting for him at the Veterans Administration Medical Center. Jesse worked for many years as a Federal Police Officer and served in the capacity of Chief of Police at the VA, until he retired in 1997.
Jesse met Angeline at the VA, and they were married in 1971. Their marriage, love, friendship and togetherness lasted for 56 years. He was a faithful member of the Destiny Dome Embassy at Cathedral of Praise. He was an usher and deacon. He loved God and the Word of God which came from his Godson/nephew Apostle, Dr. Oscar Nelson Dowdell-Underwood, who he adored so much!
Jesse loved to cook! His favorite was his barbecue ribs. He was always cooking for others because he loved to see them eat! Jesse was a great family man, who loved his children and church family. He loved to fix things around the house and work on cars, etc.
Jesse leaves to cherish his legacy and memory his wife, Dr. Angeline Dowdell-Barron; children, Dr. Oscar J. Nelson Dowdell-Underwood (Dr. Helen), Carolyn R. Leavell, Tyrone Dowdell (Angie), Arvester Williams (Ann), Sharon Williams, Vickie Payne (Anthony), Reginald Stephens, and Angela Wilson (Edward); sisters, Nancy Cooper, Mother Loucille Allen; 22 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
Homegoing Services will be 11:00 am Saturday, August 31, 2024 at The Destiny Dome Embassy of Cathedral of Praise Ministries International located at 3501 Harris Rd. Fort Wayne, Indiana 46808 with visitation one hour prior. Apostle Dr. Oscar J. Nelson Dowdell-Underwood, officiating. Burial will follow in Covington Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.
