Jo was born on March 14, 1941, in Bossier City, Louisiana to the late Steven and Exa Culpepper. Throughout her life she dedicated herself to caring for others working as a caregiver for many years. Her compassion, kindness, and selfless heart touched the lives of countless people.
Jo found joy in life's simple pleasures. She cherished spending time with her family and had a special love for her pets who brought her endless happiness. She had a feisty spirit, a quick wit and a loving heart that made her unforgettable to those who knew her. She was truly a little spitfire who lived her life on her own terms.
She is survived by her daughters, Rebecca (Dan) Anthony, Deborah (Wallace) Funderburk, and Jacqie (Phillip) Yates; grandchildren, Jessica (J. Mills) Anthony, Jenifer (Peter) Lock, Madison Royer, Cody Martin, and Ashton and Nevaeh Yates; and her treasured great-granddaughter, Nora Lock. She is also survived by many extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Claude Martin; and her sister, Martha Thomas.
The family would like to extend gratitude and thanks to her Stillwater Hospice Team, especially Amanda Hug. A private family service will be held at a later date.
