

Joan Brenneman, 85, of Fort Wayne went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 27, 2022. Joan was born July 7, 1936 in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of the late Orpha and Lawrence Garst. She grew up in Dayton, Ohio and attended Jefferson Township school for 12 years. After graduating, she went to Manchester University where she met the love of her life, Dean Brenneman, whom she married on February 2, 1957. Together, they lived in Columbia City and she worked at Alfran Nursing Home, Franks Greenhouse, and at Mary Raber School for 14 years as a kindergarten aide. After her husband took sick, they moved to Fort Wayne and lived there until his passing in 1995. She was a member at Agape Church of the Brethren where she served with the nurture group, senior moments, and helped with funeral dinners. In her free time, Joan enjoyed playing cards with many friends, going to the movies, and eating out. Surviving relatives are her children, Jerry (Cathy Gilbert) Brenneman and Jeff (Joyce) Brenneman and Jackie (Mark) Dayton; six grandchildren, Lori (Sean) Parrish, Jimmy (Dianna) Brenneman, Alex Dayton, Sydney (Jade) Cale, Kelley (Brandon Curry) Brenneman, and Joel Brenneman; seven great grandchildren, Zach, David, and Anna Parrish, Evelyn and Braxton Brenneman, and Elise and Charlotte Cale; brother, Richard Garst; and sister-in-laws, Phyllis Weber and Doneta Oswalt. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at Agape Church of the Brethren,11610 Lima Road, Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne. Greenlawn Funeral Home, Fort Wayne is handling arrangements.
