Joan Ruth Lininger, 92, left Pine Valley Lutheran Life Village in Fort Wayne, IN, on Wednesday May 17, 2023, to spend her life in paradise. She was born December 30, 1930, in Lima, Ohio, the daughter of Russell and Mary (Arnold) Boyd.
Joan graduated from Lafayette-Jackson High School in Lafayette, OH; and Crown College St. Bonifacius, MN, where she met her loving husband of 69 years, Howie Lininger, whom survives. They were married August 21, 1953, and raised three children, Carole (Tom) Matthews, Doug (Sue) Lininger, and Scott (Kristin) Lininger. She was “Grams” to eight grandchildren and great-grandma to 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Donald R. Boyd; and sister, Linda Frankenberry.
Joan enjoyed and taught quilting, and was an excellent pianist, organist and vocalist. She directed the Southmoor Singers and accompanied the Allen County Purdue Extension Chorus, as well as many music school student contestants for more than twenty years. Joan was a church organist for several churches.
Funeral service will be 3:00 pm Monday, May 22, 2023, at D.O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne, IN, with visitation two hours prior.
