Johannes Causey of Fort Wayne, formerly of Decatur, Georgia, passed away September 28, 2026, following a brief illness. He was born March 11, 1949, to Liselotte Beutler and Buddy Causey in Vienna, Austria. He immigrated to the United States in October 1953. Johannes had a long career with the State of Georgia, culminating as Mental Health Unit Manager for Metro Correctional Institution for women in Atlanta. He was a licensed counselor with professional certification from AAMFT. He held a certificate from Callanwolde Fine Arts Center and was a talented potter. He also was a Master Gardener for Whitley and Allen Counties in Indiana and formerly of DeKalb County in Georgia. He loved gardening, cooking, music and the fine arts. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Teresa (Pownall) Causey, sisters Maria Causey and Elizabeth Causey Fetter, both of Georgia, brothers in law, sisters in law, six nephews, five nieces, two grand nieces and one grand nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lilo and Buddy Causey. Per his wishes, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Southern Poverty Law Center, Community Harvest Food Bank in Fort Wayne or Atlanta Community Food Bank.
