John was in the United States Army from 1966 - 1968. He worked 15 years, for the Madison County Sheriff’s Department as a Reserve Officer. He retired from General Motors in 2006. John was a member of the Mount Moriah Masonic Lodge # 77, in Anderson, IN and was Master Counselor with the Order of DeMolay, of the Anderson, Indiana Chapter.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Nancy (Land) Brown; daughters, Laura Ann (Brown) Roman (Edwin Roman) and Barbara Ann Brown; grandson, Nicholas Michael Orth; great-granddaughter, Isabella Sunshine Orth.
John was preceded in death by his step-sister, Mary Nelson.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Covington Knolls, 8325 Covington Road Fort Wayne, IN 46804, from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm with the funeral service to follow, beginning at 3:00 pm.
