John,

I still haven’t processed that you’re gone. I’m sitting here on a flight, tears in my eyes, scrolling through pictures of all of us during our childhood. They brought back so many good memories; memories that were once faded into the abyss of my mind. You were my built in best friend growing up. I was beyond lucky to have you as an older brother. If Webster had a definition of big brother, you would be there. You were my friend, my protector, my shield against the bad in the world, and always had my back. You, just like Dad, never missed a call, and at those times when you did, just like Dad, you would call back and apologize over and over for missing it. You always had my back, you always were looking out for me, and always wanted what was best for me. From an early age, some of my best memories were alongside you. From playing sports, riding bikes, going fishing and hunting, going camping, all the shenanigans we pulled, and stress we caused Mom and Dad. 

Now, we are left here to pick up the pieces.  Mom more-so than ever. We must put together those pieces for your children, using your memories as the glue to hold them together. The pain of you being gone is never going to subside, it’s always going to be there, no matter how deep we try to push it down. Right now I am hanging onto any silver lining that can come from this. Specifically, your last act of selflessness, helping give a select few, another chance at life. Your gifts will hopefully live on in those that were lucky enough to receive them. I pray for them, that because of you, they can live on. If given the chance I will let them know of my childhood hero, and all you brought to this world. 

This is not a goodbye, rather I love you, and I miss you. Until we meet again big bro, keep watching over and protecting us all.

I had the privilege of knowing John through my work. He always had a smile on him when he walked into my store. He always made me laugh. He will be truly missed

This one touches my heart deeply. 

There's no map or reason to this kind of loss, but I find solace in honoring my little brother John's remarkable life. John was my ex-brother-in-law for 19 years, yet I still cherished him as one heck of a little brother. He'd light up with a smile and say "hey sis!" whenever we met, creating countless memories. His infectious laughs, playful tricks, wrestling with his brothers, and never knowing what was on his mind--and immaculately clean shoes are etched in my memory. I'd often tease him about getting his shoes dirty, and he'd respond with a side-eye look, saying "you better not!" His lighthearted nature and mischievous jokes.   At the end of the day he was genuine, sincere and------- loving through his little frustrations. A devoted father, he gave his all to his children, taking them to church and striving to be a role model. His presence will be deeply missed by many, but his legacy lives on. Though it's been a few years since we last met, I knew he still considered me like a big sister. Kaden, his nephew, and I will celebrate his life this week, with arrangements pending. We love you always, John Conklin, may you rest peacefully in heaven, surrounded by the God you love. Your memory will continue to inspire us. Our heartfelt condolences go out to friends and family during this difficult time.
