John "Jack" Theodore Gething Jr.

John "Jack" Theodore Gething Jr., 93, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, joined his Heavenly Father on Friday, October 28, 2022, at his home. Born May 18, 1929, in Angola, Indiana, he was the son of the late John and Wanda Gething. Jack married Betty Long on March 27, 1949, who preceded him in death in 2019. He was a heavy equipment operator in construction, and was also a supervisor at Zollners Corp. Jack was a member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church. Surviving are his children, Debra (Steve) Borns, Cindy (Terry) Bock, Bill (Cathy) Gething, and Becky (Jerry) Owen; a sister, Jean Richards; eight grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. A funeral service to honor Jack's life and legacy will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne (IN 46805), with calling one hour prior to the service. Pastor Keith Schreffler will be officiating. A calling will also take place on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.
