JOHN R. HAECKER, 71, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, at his residence. Born Aug. 17, 1940, in Decatur and raised in Berne, he was the son of Robert and Anna (Lehman) Haecker. He was an automotive salesman in Fort Wayne for 40 years, retiring in 2005. Surviving are his wife, Marjorie; two daughters, Melissa (Greg) Shaffer of Harlan and Melinda (Steve) Connelly of Fort Wayne; mother, Anna Haecker of Berne; one stepson, Scott (Lisa) Fuhrman of Fort Wayne; one stepdaughter, Kelly (Bill) Czech of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren, Johnathon, Abbey, Olivia, and Anna Shaffer Donovan, Gabriel and Brennan Connelly, Spencer Fuhrman, and Baylee Czech; one sister, Georgia (Gerry) Cook of Fort Wayne; and one brother, James (Brenda) Haecker of Marion. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Haecker. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Thursday at C.M. Sloan & Sons Funeral Home 1327 N. Wells St., with visitation from 9 to 11 a.m. Burial in M.R.E. Cemetery, Berne. Preferred memorials to the family.
