John Richard Hankins

John R. Hankins, of Leo, Indiana was 72 when he passed from this earthly life on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at Parkview Regional Medical Center. He was born April 13, 1949 in Logansport, Indiana a son of the late Betty J. (Smith) and Earl M. Hankins.

He worked at Magnavox/Raytheon for 30 years and retired in July of 2014. John loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren, traveling throughout his retirement years. He also enjoyed woodworking and did many projects. On April 3, 1971 in Leo, he married Sharon L. Black, a love that lasted over 50 years.

His memories and legacy will continue with his wife, Sharon; three children, Troy Hankins of Pharr, Texas, Jason (Erica) Hankins of Fishers, Indiana, Stacey (Jeremy) Fackelman of Camden, South Carolina; along with his stepson, Bobby Black; sister, Joyce (David) Sutton of Galveston, Indiana; nine grandchildren; and other relatives. A sister, JaNay Head, and a brother, Jerrol Hankins, also preceded him in death.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00PM on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home (1320 East Dupont Road, Fort Wayne), with calling one hour before the service. Calling will also be from 4:00pm -8:00pm on Tuesday, December 14, 2021. John will be laid to rest in Leo Memorial Park Cemetery.
